We are living in times when shortcuts to the the marriage institution abound. There are many marriages today which sadly begin with a pregnancy, or the couple cohabiting for many years before deciding to tie the marital knot.

To have so many straight weddings, so to say within such a short space of time amidst the serious moral meltdown and erosion of Christian values, is a blessing to any pastor and congregation. It's my prayer that the Lord will sustain and keep these marriages pure and strong and that they might maintain and reflect a robust Christian witness as couples.

Talking about dressing, I have also noted that there has been a worrying drift towards being too casual in our dressing, not only at weddings, but also other important gatherings of a spiritual nature. We don't always have to be in a tie and jacket to reflect the dignity and importance of the event we are attending. But neither must we be dressed as if we are walking into Woodlands Stadium to watch Esther Phiri pound her opponent in a boxing contest.

I may be touching on raw nerves here, but I have heard whispers that as pastors, we have not led by example in this area of dressing, except on the Lord's Day. So I hope we will all take this matter seriously.Isaac Makashinyihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04562795325480628430noreply@blogger.com
